How Much Does SEO Cost?

Category : Marketing News

A question we get asked often over the phone or via email is "How much is SEO?" and/or "Can you give me a ballpark figure?"

This question should be impossible to answer because every niche is different every part of the country is different and every website owner's goals are different.

The only figure a genuine marketing company could possibly give would be something like £200 - £5000 PCM. I suppose its like asking a garage "how much does a car cost"

Set pricing for SEO usually points to a rogue marketing company who merely wants as many clients as possible signed up to 6, 12 or sometimes even 18 month minimum term contracts. These rogue companies will have no intention of helping your website rank and they usually only employ commission based salesmen, maybe a receptionist and 1 or 2 people with basic IT skills

A genuine marketing company will need to look into your niche, area, competition etc. They'll also need to look over your websites code and structure. You won't get a professional asking for money up front or have you sign up for and kind of minimum term contract.

Requesting that a new client sign a minimum term contact is just like saying "We'll take your money, but we have no faith in our abilities"

In fact a genuine marketing company will usually have you wait a day or two whilst they check everything out and get a proposal together.

A professionally created SEO proposal will typically give you an amount per keyword depending on its competition, allowing clients to set their own budgets.

Here at Top Rank we don't only work with local business we work with businesses from all over the UK because SEO is an electronic service and not a face to face service.

When choosing an SEO company you should always do your research into them, check them out, make sure they are the right company for you and that they have verifiable results, simply choosing an SEO/marketing company because they are local to you can be disastrous.
